Coronado Dentistry & Pediatrics is a Coronado based family dentist practice that treats patients of all ages. We are committed to delivering the highest quality dental care and do so using advanced dental equipment. We are a cosmetic dentist that offers services like checkups, teeth cleaning, veneers and more.
We also perform emergency dentist services that include bonding, root canals, crowns, and bridges. Dr. Alexander John Phillips
Dr. Alexander John Phillips is a 3rd generation dentist who followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, mother, and father (whom are all dentists), and now serves the vibrant community of Coronado, CA.
Growing up, he was always very active, participating in club swimming, water polo, and volleyball. San Diego always held a special place in his heart, as his family visited multiple times every year due to his father’s service in the US Navy. One of his fondest memories was competing annually in the La Jolla Cove ocean race.
Dr. Phillips has a deep appreciation for giving back to those less fortunate, having volunteered in Mexico, Guatemala, and downtown Los Angeles’s Union Rescue Mission where they provided dental services for the homeless. He also continues to better himself as a clinician and has over 600 hours of continuing education. He is currently pursuing a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, and hopes to one day be a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry as well.
When not in the office, Dr. Phillips can be found swimming in Glorietta Bay, surfing by the Coronado Shores, and spending time with his family (first daughter born March 2024!).
Theresa
Registered Dental Hygienist
Theresa is a dedicated dental hygienist with a passion for providing comprehensive care and educating patients on effective home care practices. Theresa combines academic excellence with practical expertise and has been a dedicated member of our staff for 27 years, continuing the legacy of her grandfather Jim Vernetti, DDS
Beyond the dental office, Theresa enjoys exploring the world through travel (65 countries so far!), engaging in creative projects such as quilting, woodworking, photography, playing clarinet for the community band, practicing yoga, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
Education & Training: Bachelors from University of California Santa Barbara. RDH from USC School of Dentistry
Alejandra (Alex)
Lead Dental Assistant
Joined Coronado Dentistry in July 2020 working with Dr. Hutchison (Dr. Phillip’s predecessor). Alex is a certified dental assistant with almost 10 years of experience. She is recognized for providing top notch customer service with efficient dental assistance. Alex is dedicated to providing comfort and safety to all patients and going the extra mile.
Alex enjoys family time with her husband Angel and son Noah (born 2017). They love being active, eating, and watching horror movies (without Noah). She also enjoys being pool side w/ a tajin rim strawberry margarita.
Education & Training: Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) from UEI College, 10+ years experience in the dental field.
Shelli
Front Desk Administrator
Shelli has been with Coronado Dentistry since 2022. With over 40 years in dentistry, each day at our practice she strives to provide excellent patient care and supports our dental team.
Outside of the office, Shelli loves spending time with her husband, family, and fur baby “Bells”. She is also an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys biking, hiking, snowmobiling, swimming, golf, and relaxing with a good hallmark movie. But nothing compares to the joy she receives from serving her community and attending Saint Rose of Lima Church.
Education: Business & Dental Management. Southwestern College, Apollo College, and multiple continuing education courses at USC.
Monique
Office Manager
Monique was born and raised here in beautiful San Diego. After obtaining her RDA license in 2016, she has been working in the front-office for the last six years and started with Coronado Dentistry in 2022. Her favorite part of the job is forming relationships with our wonderful patients and seeing their smiling faces.
Monique most enjoys spending time with her senior dachshund named Marleau, traveling, and trying out new restaurants in San Diego’s delicious food scene!
Education & Training: RDA License, CPR/BLS, certifications in Law & Ethics, Pit and Fissure, Radiology, Infection Control, and Child Development, and a scholarship award from San Diego County Dental Assistants Society.
Marina
Registered Dental Hygienist
Marina has been a member of our practice for 17 years, providing quality patient care and takes pride in being a part of a caring dental team. With experience as a dental hygienist instructor, she brings high quality care in a gentle and veteran manner.
